The Enablers Theme brings together researchers, knowledge and facilities from partner universities and will collaborate with partner organisations to transform various aspects of mining, from logistics and communications security using quantum technology to real-time decision-making, through digital twin technologies and autonomous robotic systems capable of operating in extreme environments. Projects within the Enabler Theme are cross-cutting and will support activities in other themes. In an industry facing increasing complexity, from deeper deposits to stricter environmental and safety standards and high capital and operating cost, these enabling technologies will leverage real-time data integration, autonomous decision-making, and secure communications, to empower the next generation of mining operations to be more adaptive, responsive and resilient. These innovations will enhance operational efficiency and ensure that mining operations remain safe and sustainable, minimising human exposure to hazardous environments while maximising resource recovery.
