The ARC Research Hub for Next Generation Mining Methods (NextGenMIN) is an international Joint University-Industry-Government Research Hub administered by UNSW Sydney.

As strategic minerals are increasingly sourced from lower-grade deposits and challenging environments, innovation is not optional—it is essential. Through collaboration between industry, academia and government, we aim to transform mining systems to deliver a sustainable and resilient future.

Building on strong synergy and integration across disciplines, institutions and industries, NextGenMIN advances mining through DATA, ENABLERS, SYSTEMS and METHODS — integrating advanced analytics, cross-disciplinary technologies, and designing responsible mining methods for zero waste, zero emissions and zero-entry operations. We reinvent how we mine!

NextGenMIN adopts a systems-focused approach to accelerate the adoption of zero-waste, zero-emission, and zero-entry mining, creating lasting impact through workforce development, international collaboration, and pathways to industrial-scale demonstration.
